Google and Facebook preferred over Queen’s Speech
During Christmas Day this year it was discovered by a survey that Google and Facebook were preferred sites over the BBC website and Youtube which were currently showing the Queen’s speech. By 5pm Christmas Day the amount of visitors had increased by 25% as Britons contacted their family and friends over the Christmas period. However, according to an internet service provider, Plusnet which analyses web traffic, the number one site for Christmas Day was Google. Facebook finished second with MSN finishing in tenth. Shopping sites such as Amazon, ebay and Play were also in the top twenty.
Yet the Queen’s speech was broadcast live on her own personal Youtube channel and on BBC iplayer were not even ranked within the top one hundred. It seems pretty shameful not to watch the Queen’s speech yet it is amusing to find out that no one else across the country appeared to realise that it was being broadcast on the net!
