Web Standards

Web Standards are a set of recommendations published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), a group of over 500 member organizations from around the world. The organization was created in 1994 "to lead the web to its full potential". Included in these recommendations are the HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) 4.01, XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language) and Cascading Style Sheets, level 2 (CSS2) specifications.
